Kathy Morris tells us that one of her bands, “La’Companie,” is playing at the Bay City State Park next Saturday (that’s July 10th) from 7-8pm as part of the “Message from the Marsh” series. “The band plays early Michigan music, a mix of French Canadian and Irish tunes and songs, also a few French paddle songs, plus some lately composed pieces such as ‘Last of the Mohicans’, Log Driver’s waltz, and Over the Hills. Other tunes include Flowers of Edinburugh, Eddie LaPlant’s reel, Reel d’Montreal, Joys of Quebec, Branles, Soldier’s Joy and Liberty.”
Sounds like a lot of fun!
While looking for information on Message from the Marsh, we also realized Emmy-winning Michigan singer-songwriter Kitty Donohoe will present her “Lighthouses and Legends” program at Bay City State Park at 7pm this Saturday, 7/3, as part of the same series. This coming week is looking up!
