Chulrua and Finvarra’s Wren at the White Crow

As we mentioned last month, tomorrow night (Thursday the 12th) Chulrua and Finvarra’s Wren are playing at the White Crow in Saginaw. 8PM showtime according to the Finvarra’s Wren web page, I can’t find any mention of starting time elsewhere.

If you haven’t heard them before, Chulrua is built around legendary accordion player Paddy O’Brien, with Patrick Ourceau’s beautiful fiddling, and great backing and vocals from Pat Egan. They are one of the US’s best traditional Irish bands, and we’re really lucky to have them playing in our backyard.

Finvarra’s Wren is probably Michigan’s best traditional Irish band, and will make fine openers. There’s a very good chance this will be the best traditional Irish concert of the year around here.

(If you cannot make this concert, Chulrua is also appearing at the Great Lakes Folk Festival this weekend, along with Quebecois band De Temps Antan.)’

Oh, just found this video with bits of Chulrua’s workshops (not happening at our stop so far as I know) and performances from just last week in Chicago.
